Principal's Corner

Dear Yokota West Elementary School Families,

As we reflect on the close of the school year, I want to take a moment to share my gratitude for the many successes, meaningful connections, and shared experiences that make our Yokota West community so special. It is truly an honor to be part of such a caring, dedicated, and supportive school family.

This year, our School Action Plan results reflect our collective commitment to growth and excellence. We reached 100% implementation of high-quality success criteria across classrooms, increased student readiness with “green” self-reports rising from 95% to 97%, and reduced discipline referrals from 5% to 4% through strong positive behavior practices and intentional student recognition. These results highlight our shared focus on creating a supportive and positive learning environment for all students.

Our theme, Together We SOAR, reflects who we are at Yokota West. Each day, our students demonstrate what it means to be Safe, On Task, Always Responsible, and Respectful not only in the classroom, but throughout the school and in our community. These are values that extend beyond the school day and help shape our students into thoughtful, responsible individuals wherever they go.

A strong school community is built on trust, connection, and open communication. The partnership between school and home is essential, and I deeply value the importance of two-way communication as we work together to support every child. Families are always welcome and encouraged to connect with me at Rebecca.Villagomez@dodea.edu to request a meeting, share ideas, provide feedback, or discuss any questions or concerns.

During this time of year, I hope you are able to enjoy meaningful time, rest, and connection with family and friends. We look forward to continuing our work together and welcoming our students back to another great year of learning and growth.

No matter where the future takes you, you will always be a part of the Yokota West community. Together, we SOAR.

With gratitude,
Dr. Villagomez
